Archeology

Archeology is a highly interdisciplinary major that is commonly offered through a university’s anthropology department. Students learn about the ancient civilizations that existed during various historical periods and the architecture, material culture, folklore and archaeology that were a part of them. They also learn how to study the physical remnants left behind from these civilizations across the world. Programs in archeology usually include classes in art, architecture, classic literature, world history, ancient and modern languages and theology. From studying what remains of ancient cultures, students gain a greater understanding of ancient times and places, and an expanded view of the world in which we live. Courses you may encounter include: The Origins of Human Society, The Rise of Civilization and Archeological Theory & Practice.
