Bibilical Studies

Biblical studies is a sub-discipline of religious studies that focuses on the message of the Bible. Students critically examine the Scriptures, putting them in contemporary and historical content. They understand how Christianity has influenced society and the role it will play in the future. By the end of their studies, they become faithful readers and interpreters of the Good Book. Skills in written and verbal communication are gained through stimulating class discussions, essays and research papers. Many students takes classes that relate to old testament history and religion; new testament history and religion; foundations of Christian theology; the Christian tradition; and essentials of Hebrew.

An undergraduate degree effectively prepares students to pursue an advanced degree in biblical studies. Graduates often become pastors, evangelists, church administrators, missionaries, ministers, bible teachers, professors and counselors. Their grasp of the context of the Bible allows them to become spiritual leaders in their communities. Satisfaction is achieved through the efforts to guide others to more fulfilling lives. Biblical studies is also effective at preparing students for careers in a wide variety of secular fields. The skills they have acquired from their liberal arts degree allow them to become effective marketers, writers, reporters, lawyers, social workers and public administrators.
