Degree Outlook: After earning an associate degree in business administration, graduates are qualified to continue their education and receive a bachelor’s degree or they can look for work as an administrative assistant, bookkeeper, account manager, customer service representative, or some other entry-level job in the business world. Because graduates have worked hard to learn these office-related skills, they are qualified to start a good career in business. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, entry level jobs in business, such as administrative assistants, are projected to have the largest number of openings for recent graduates due to growth of the business world. In fact, there should be an 11 percent increase in jobs through 2018, which means 471,000 more jobs in the next eight years for graduates. In 2008, administrative assistants earned a median annual salary of $29,050. Another career with similar opportunities is that of a bookkeeping clerk, which is also expected to grow by 10 percent through 2018, creating 212,400 new jobs for graduates. Bookkeeping clerks earned a median annual salary of $32,510 in 2008.
