Landscape Architecture

Landscape architecture is a major that is as practical as it is artistic. It is a challenging, hands-on college major in which students learn the art of creating beautiful outdoor spaces for private or public use. Landscape architecture may involve planning ways of creating and cultivating green space in urban environments; designing plans for aesthetic landscaping for high-end homes; and using trees, plants and other materials to improve or beautify a wide variety of settings. Courses in landscape architecture might include landscaping in American, European and Asian styles; surveying; site planning, engineering and construction; horticulture, biology and other physical sciences; computer-aided design and field projects. Students will also learn the history of landscape architecture and about some of the pioneers in the field.

If you enjoy working with your hands, have a great love for the environment, and desire to spend a great deal of time out of doors, you might consider choosing a major in landscape architecture.
