Pre-Medicine

Pre-med is a track pursued by students who wish to attend medical school after graduation. They chose majors that fulfill the requirements of their prospective schools; most commonly biology and chemistry. Courses that are most necessary for admission include general chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, physics and math. Some schools may require credit in calculus while other may want credit in statistics. Much of what is learned in these courses is covered in the MCAT examination, so students will end up well-prepared. Overall, it’s important that students gain the knowledge of science that will be useful during their coming years of study.

Students who have successfully completed a pre-medical major in science or math are more likely to do well in medical school.
